PREVIOUS PAGE | ALL RECIPES Classic Red Cabbage with Apple and Prunes Ingredients 1 tbsp vegetable oil 1 large onion, thinly sliced 1 red cabbage, cored and sliced in thin strips 1 large cooking apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced 8 prunes, pitted and chopped (optional) 1 tbsp brown sugar 2 tbsp red wine or cider vinegar 200ml water or chicken stock Salt and pepper to taste 1 tbsp caraway seeds (optional) Method Heat the oil in a large pan and saute the onion until soft. Add the cabbage and cook for about 5 minutes. Add the apple and prunes and give it a stir. Add the water or stock, cover the pan and allow to simmer. Check after about 10 minutes and give it another stir. Allow to simmer gently for about 40 minutes, stiring occasionally. Add the caraway seeds and season to taste.
