What we do?
The Better Food Company exists to ...
- Work to make organic food more available to all, while being true to the needs of the farmer and the soil.
- Provide a service which puts food at the heart of community for celebration and unity.
- Highlight the links between soil, plant, animal and man.
- Provide everything possible to allow our customers to get what they need to live an environmentally friendly life, all in one journey.
- To work with schools and other groups to inform and learn about sustainable food and farming.
- To inspire respect and pride for all in the food chain, from farmers and processors, to shop keepers, chefs, and families at home. To promote the idea that being ethical is the best way to survive in this world.
The Better Food Company does this for the following reasons:
- Because less dependence on petroleum is better for food security.
- Because we believe the world is ready for new ideas and new models of how we live, grow food and organise ourselves for the good of all. Because the evidence of poor health and obesity show clearly that alternatives to junk food and microwave dinners are vital.
- Because communities and local traders need to show that there are alternatives to supermarkets and souless corporations. Because farmers from Devon to the Dominican Republic are asking us all to give them support to farm in a more sustainable and fairer way for all.
- Because we want to be a part of building a world we are proud to pass on to future generations.
